Our patient Dorothy Fournier shares her experience with our Care-Van service:
|
Because Dover resident Dorothy Fournier needs regular Pulmonary Rehab and is unable to afford another means of transportation she qualifies for the Hospital’s free Care-Van service.
“Without it I wouldn’t be able to be here,” she explained. Dorothy, known as “Dot” at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital, is very grateful for the caring staff and gets delightfully animated when talking about them.
“They couldn’t be any nicer and helpful. They are so courteous…like they had an old fashioned upbringing,” she explains as she demonstrates offering her hand like a gentleman would. “They open the door for you and ask if they can help with anything.”
Dorothy tells a story about Care-Van driver Chris Sheing, EMT, to prove how the Care-Van staff goes above and beyond when caring for her. During a ride to the Hospital Dorothy mentioned to Chris that she was feeling a bit “off” and wasn’t herself. Chris was concerned and took the time to call and talk to the Pulmonary Rehab staff before Dorothy arrived. “He was so concerned,” said Dorothy. “By the time I got upstairs everyone was checking on me to make sure I was okay. They even made an appointment for me to see my primary care physician. I ended up being fine but I am so thankful they care so much.”
